Masks are mandatory on BART from now until October 1.

On all BART trains, riders ages 2+ and not medically exempt are required to wear a face mask that covers their nose and mouth. Free face masks are available at all station agent booths for anyone who needs one.

BART police will be enforcing the mandate by offering a free mask to those without one. Riders who do not comply will be subject to a $75 fine or be ejected from the area, according to SF Gate.

On September 22, BART officials will decide if the mask mandate should be extended.
