Buh Bye 3G - What Getting Rid of 3G Means for You and Your Service

It's officially buh bye time. Say goodbye to any devices that used 3G cell service on AT&T - because they have turned off their 3G network in preparation to a full transition over to 4G/LTE and ultimately 5G. What does this mean for you? Well if you have an iPhone 5 or an older version - your network is gone and you'll need to replace your device. This doesn't just affect cell phones, some of your other smart devices such as kindles, home alarm systems, GPS Nav systems and even those emergency alert systems for our elderly are affected. So take the time to check in on your elders and possibly walk them through getting updated to 5G service.

Although this has been in the works since about 2019 - it's still coming as a surprise to some users. Just a heads up, this is just the start of the phase out of 3G - Tmobile will reportedly turn theirs off July 1st while Verizon will reportedly follow suit on December 31st.
