Rare Bottle-Nosed Dolphin Found in Colma Creek?

There was an unusual sight Wednesday on the Peninsula as a wayward dolphin traveled up a South San Francisco creek throughout the day and well into the evening.

NewsChopper 2 captured footage at around 3 p.m. of the 12-foot bottle-nosed dolphin as it swam in Colma Creek near the San Francisco International Airport.

According to Jim Oswald at Sausalito’s Marine Mammal Center, they were notified about the dolphin Wednesday morning and have been monitoring the sea mammal all day.

Experts said the dolphin appears to be healthy and should find its way back to the ocean on its own.

Oswald said that the dolphin was swimming in an area viewable by the public, but wanted to stress that people need to stay away and let the mammal be so it isn't distracted and can find its way out.
