“My goal was to make the semifinals, and I was happy to do that,” Pistorius said. “I would have liked to run a little better, but I didn’t find my rhythm. I’m happy with the way I ran and just being in front of this crowd. It was 70,000 people and it felt like 170,000. It’s been an unbelievable experience for me.”

More unbelievable is listening to a man who had both legs amputated below the knee as a baby being disappointed with his time at the world’s greatest athletic event. As much as gold medalist Usain Bolt showed what the human body is capable of on Sunday night, so did Pistorius.

“I didn’t come out here to prove a point. I just came to do the best that I can possibly do,” Pistorius said.
